thanks for that information, i had long suspected that all the original aryas were non-meat eaters, as non-violence toward animals is enjoined in the ved and the avesta... i have heard of the works by the parsi writer sasan about a 1000 years ago, who said that zandbar or useful animals like the horse, cattle etc. should not be killed... and the earth supposedly took the form of a cow to plead with mazda for for a saviour...
