Dear Diana,

Thank you very much for your response. I am not so sure, that Cyrus was a Zoroastrian. In his cylinder Inscription he does not make mention of Ahura Mazda at all. Instead, He claims that the Babylonian god Marduk selected him as ruler of the world, that he took him by the hand and lead him to Babylon, that he made the people of Babylon to love him, and that he sent blessings to Cyrus, his son and his troops in return for the daily worship he received from him. There is a translation of the cylinder on the web at http://www.stolaf.edu/people/kchanson/cyrus.html .

From this it appears, that Cyrus was not a Zoroastrian, or do you know of any other inscriptions of him?

Kind regards John Prince
