As Cyrus K points out, the importance of hymns is that they be sung, collectively if possible, but reverently always. However, this does not preclude their study or prayerful meditation on them. Ronald's question was about HOW a definitive translation can best be made; my answer was on that question. I recite the Gathas daily, as well as various prayers, the Ahunvar, Asehm Vohu, Airyem Ishyo, Ormazd Korday, Kemna Mazda and the Fravarane. Does this make me a man of words or deeds? I think that is not possible to answer based on a few exchanges on this website. I do believe on giving considered answers to questions, even on this transitory medium.
